Dholera SIR (DSIR) is a Greenfield Industrial City planned and located approximately 100km southwest of Ahmedabad.
The city would be built as a world-class city, with a ten-lane expressway running between the city from the state's largest city and capital Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar respectively, to the container port.
It would be the world's largest urban development project worth $12 billion. The Gujarat government headed by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi created a legislative framework for the formation of a Special Investment Region Act 2009.
An SPV named Dholera SIR Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) is created between Central Government (DMICDC Trust) and State Government (DSIRDA) Gujarat to implement the Dholera SIR Development Project.
Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (DMICDC), a special purpose company, was incorporated to establish, promote and facilitate the development of the DMIC Project.
